An
introduction to information systems and an exploration of the way in
which business manages the information it requires for decision making.
The foci of this paper are the development of statistical and accounting
techniques for collecting, analysing and interpreting information generated
by business. Topics include quantitative and qualitative research methods
and an introduction to the ethics of research.
475130 Globalisation and Business Enterprise
This
paper draws on theoeretical frameworks from social science, management,
marketing, economics and statistics to analyse contemporary business
issues and to forecast some likely future trends. These include an analysis
of NZ trade, globalisation, the knowledge economy, transformation of
work and its effects on the individual. Issues explored include Human
Rights, entrepreneurship, e-business, the impact of technology and working
in virtual teams. This paper will also include collection and interpretation
of statistical data to assist with business decision making.

Human Computer Interaction
An
analysis of the cognitive processes, styles of learning and other human
behaviour that determine how people operate and make use of computer
technology effectively and what implications these behaviours have for
the design of Human Computer Interaction (HCI). Builds understanding
of the tools and techniques that assist the design and development of
efficient, effective, and satisfying HCI.
